I'd be up for one of the Mack kits as well. That is a sweet looking ship! And then there is greg's skill on top. It's just going to be wicked! Okay now that my internal little boy has had his say. :)

Have you considered a DKM Kormoran kit? Relatively straightforward hull design, nice sized cargo ship and, under big Gun rules, not terribly bad as a commerce raider (not sure how those firt in under IRCWCC, MWC or Treaty).
In Big Gun, it would be a good beginner ship that you could start out unarmed, and then add "oomph" in several ways as you gain experience.
    Cheers,

Any chance you'll have a file of the turret that I could borrow when the RepRap is set up?

once you have gotten to the SS for the L would it be possible to get the CAD file? I new club member has his own laser cutter.

I can do turrets for both, those are easy. Also able to do smokestacks, etc. L's SS might need to be done in a few parts (8"x8"x5" print volume) but is easily within the realm of possibility, and the CAD file wouldn't need to be redone to yield patterns for pieces of wood; the Slic3r program takes the file and calculates the printhead path with a user-determined wall thickness and fill% for the inside of the box (so to speak)... once you feed it to the printer, you go eat dinner and check in on it once in a while. Superstructures are no problem in Sketchup, but I haven't worked up the nerve to try a rounded turret :)

Printer not set up yet, but I can run it through the slicing software and see what it looks like. STL files are preferred, although if it's a format that I can get into Sketchup, I have a pluging that lets Sketchup convert it to .stl format.

Alright folks... the mackensen design is done. drawing generation is underway. I am about a week out from having it in a quotable format. So consider this the call for interest. if you are interested in a mackensen, let me know via PM so I can get a list going and quote in the right quantities. same goes for a littorio, as I can have them all shipped to me in the same box.

standard note applies to the mack that goes with the L kit... there may be minor bugs in the design. the L kit is fully documented in teh build thread as far as what one will receive. the M will include the bulk of the superstructure (see mackensen begins thread for pictures)

Is there a future plan to do laser cut Littoro superstructure like you did for the Mackensen?
