Ok so my mom said she would buy me an R/C Ship Kit. I have plans for a ship but it is a but difficult and with school I don't have too much time. Then I realized that Strike Models was CLOSING!!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering if anyone knows a good WWII IJN ship kit (or ship) that is between $0-$250?

    Thanks so much
    Sammy

    Sammy,

If the price range is $250, may I suggest a destroyer kit for your first ship. It will get you on the water and some experience for a later build of a cruiser when you have a larger budget.

Okay I think I might get the vac-u-fletcher. Can I adapt it for combat?

See if you can get a Vac-u-Gearing. Fletchers are only 1 unit, Gearings are 1.5 units, plus the Gearing gets twin rudders so it handles much better. I didn't see it listed on the website though, so you'll have to email him directly.

    Hello Nibbles

WWCC has a couple of members looking into using these boats here in Nor Cal plus we have boats and many sets of plans available for members that would need them.

Do not get Fletcher for combat. it is too small for the gear. Gearing works well. we had 3 at Nats. Are they the biggest baddest ship on the water? of course not. But, the y do have a role and are a nice build. Phil at Vac-u-boat will help you as will I and others here.

I have started with the normal Vac U Fletcher (to get familiar with RC) that arrived Saturday and then get Gearing after seeing a WWCC combat event (or maybe a bit later)

Haven't got one yet. I'm looking for one compatible with a spectrum DX6

If you have a DX6 just use that, they work great.
