We do a lot of displays here in the Dayton area.
Lots of table space, with lots of boats.
Folks seem to be attracted to the boats with lots of detail.
We pass out fliers with local contact info, and various web-site info.
I think the thing that really catches the eyes of folks is a TV or lap-top with battles going on.
Mark has brought his lap-top to some of our displays, and the folks seem to flock around the
    video.

When we had a booth at RCX in Long Beach this year, the five minute loop of an intro to warship combat on the TV drew a lot of attention, as did having a couple of static ships. If you have a completed ship and a ship in progress (especially a partially-cut fiberglass hull) it really helps explain to people how things are put together and how we can repair them so quickly.

Strike Models can send along a bunch of postcards that nice pictures on the front and FAQs on the back, with a spot for you to put on your own address label with specific club contact information -- just send me a note to keri at strikemodels dot com.

The WWCC has to to take the over all cake for grabbing attention at shows with their Makersfair demonstration. They build a 70' x 40' (i believe its that size) pond that is 20" deep and have real battles during which they have one of their members describing to the crowd what its all about and whats going on in front of them. And then at the entrance to their show they have a booth with bunch of ships in various stages of construction and a couple really knowledgeable guys there to answer any and all questions related to this amazing obsession.

Now obviously not all clubs have the numbers or ability to pull this off because of space available but it has been proven to work over the years. This year alone they have had 6 or 7 new members sign up and start construction of new ships just from this one event.
