don't forget the function of the main super. it helps stiffen the removable portion of hte deck so that it stays matched to the fixed portion when cut free. you should epoxy all the rib and keel joints along with the main super, all stiffeners, etc. to the deck before you cut the tabs holding the main deck in place. Also note that the positioning components (the 4x idenical ones installed in 2 pairs highlighted blue in prev picture) that attach to the fixed portion of the main deck should NOT be glued to the removable portion unless you don't intend to use them as removable deck mount points

Post-op, can sort-of use left hand, right hand is at 75%. Wife says I can't go out and play in the shop. Fine. I started slotting parts together on the Graf Spee. She's long!

Photographic evidence of progress (one-handed)... most of the ribs are sitting there but need some light filing to fit properly.

dangit, I will have to get mine going now... keep your eyes out for some split parts (stern keel and some super parts) that are not split in plans but had to be split for lasercutter. should be identically labeled

Yeah, Greg, it's not like a guy with a gimpy right hand and a surgical bandage on his left is beating you to the build... ;) hehehe

Got the filing done and the hull and wood stashed before the wife gets home. The pic turned out a bit fuzzy, no idea why, but it shows that the ribs all fit and the keels do, too. No glue has been applied, this is all dry fitting!

make sure you cut the missing slot in the stern keel before you glue that in. I would recommend getting the horizontal stiffeners in as well before gluing the deck

Will do, I was just dry fitting it to see what SMS Graf Spee will look like. Reeaaallly long. If she was MWC legal, she'd be class 5, 24 seconds, with 2 rudders and allowed 3 sidemounts (no more than 2 on one side). Not sure if Graf Spee will be Treaty or Big Gun.

pretty good in big gun as well. gets 1/8" armor and 7/32 cannons which are nice due to the rate of fire >:) looks good tug!

Hey Greg, I was wondering how you got 12" armor for the Mac? I do not have the WW1 conways but one of the guys does and mentioned that the armor belt was 300mm (11.8") which gives it 3/32 balsa though just barely. Now I would love to get the 1/8" balsa but need to be able to prove it to the TO. Any help with the explanation would be greatly appreciated! :)

Conways has it listed as 300mm (12in). Which means they rounded it from 11.8" to 12"

yep. I went with conways english units. never checked their metric to english conversion. let me know which number in conways the TO decides to use.:

Belt 12-4 (300 to 100) is from conways
