Apparently, they been having "battles" over in Britian with 20 ft manned ships since 1927. The first ones were paddled by the operator. In 1929, they added electric motors. The battling starts at about 55 seconds in. Some of the pyrotechnics, particularly the shore bombardment are quite impressive. The planes are a nice touch too.
