Well, the poor Maru is a bit roughed up after a year and some change of combat.
You may recall, when she first sailed she looked real nice...

At the end of this season, this is what she looked like...

The superstructures are missing pieces, the hull is patches upon patches..

In most of the penetrable area above the waterline she was more patch than balsa.

The hull was full of little shattered pieces of balsa, despite me cleaning it out regularily between battles

So I ripped it all off.

This winter she'll get a new superstructure, new skin, a thorough cleaning, a rudder-throw upgrade, a new paintjob and new internal armor.

bloomin heck thats a lot of damage :| I wasnt expecting htat level of superstructure damage, I must say - although she is a convoy ship, so the hull damage isnt that surprising.

The Maru takes a lot of hits high, but it sits rather low.

To be fair, had I constructed the super out of something a little more durable the first time around, it wouldn't look nearly so bad. Model ply on top of opencell foam was just asking to get obliterated. It does look really cool when you see ships blasting pieces out though.

One was, after a few battles of running around with just the shattered stub I replaced it and repainted them. Same thickness as the originals, so you just have to square up on them again. :)
