Some Treaty battle photos from the Sunday fleet battle this past weekend at the Midwest Naval Combat Club event.
    From left to right.
DKM Von Reuter (P-cruiser), USS Roanoke, FNS Richelieu, FNS Jean Bart, DMB Roma, USS Michigan, and the FNS Emile Bertin.
The French were up against the world fleet, and the Frenchies were dominating the waters early on, but then we became concerned that
if we won the battle, the world captains might not want to return the next time, so Vance scuttled his Richelieu, and then we pulled the plug on
    the Jean Bart as well.
The world scum seemed tickled with their victory, so things look good for our next battle.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Sounds like the French may need reinforcement. How about a Gascogne BB at the TreatyCon this year? ;)

    My Battlestations Strasbourg running trials.
She only had the throttle and rudder installed.
Getting her back on the water after all this time was a huge step for me.

Tell you what Mr. Mangus: you bring the Gascogne, and I'll try to finish the Alsace in time. Bring the Verite too. There are rumors of another pre-dread that might make it.

We will not be attending the Treaty Conference this year, as we are concentrating on maintaining
the French twins for Treaty, and getting a pair of Frenchies opperational for Battlestations here
with the Midwest Naval Combat group.
We did some horse-trading this past weekend, and Vance now owns the Mogador again. So my
Strasbourg will have a Frenchie to escort her.
We hope to have them both on the water running sea trials in June or July, and have them both
battle-ready by August or so. July would probably be a stretch.

The photos are the Richelieu (the dark one), and Jean Bart (the light one).
We have never been able to get both of these French battleships on the water at the same time.

There was a huge battle at the Versailles, Ohio battle site yesterday.
The world team decided to take on the green slime.

    Teams:
World: Val, Gerry, Matt, and Mikey.
Slime: Well, the slime. Nuff said.

It was a long and brutal battle, and although the world team did well, and put some serious hurt on the slime.
In the end, the slime came out the victor.
Val, Gerry, Matt, and Mikey all ended up getting wet. And I had a slightly swollen hand to boot.

After a couple hours of trying to skim the green slime off of the water's surface, we felt that we had perhaps
half of the slime removed, and decided to give up the battle. The wind kept moving what remained of the slime around.
But it refused to move it to one end of the pond or the other.
    Oh well we tried.

The battle site in Versailles, Ohio was out of action due to low water levels for a few months earlier in the year.
We recently made a trip up to see how the water level was doing only to find that the weeds had been getting
plenty of water, and that the entire pond was covered in a green slime of some sort. Origin unknown! But very nasty.
So we put together a team, and we went up yesterday to have a go at getting the battle site back in action.
We took some photos just to give you all an idea of what we were up against.
I had taken some photos a week ago or so, but decided not to post them on the sites as I felt that it might cause
folks to not take part in the battle, due to the odds against success.
    This was our story.

I wanted to take the time to thank all of the folks that helped out with our plan to retake the Versailles, Ohio battle site this weekend.
Not only just the folks that went up there to battle the elements, but also all of the folks that lent us equiptment, and helped with all of the suggestions on just how to go about removing the green slime.
Although we can't say that the pond is slime-free at this time, we did manage to remove enough of the slime that we could put boats on the water and have some battles.
We will also get the net cleaned up so that we can take it back up for some more skimming if we decide to have another go at the slime.
I think I can honestly say that other than the fact that we all got somewhat wet, and therefore colder than we would have liked to, we all had a pretty good time, and made the hard work seem less like work by having a little fun with it.
    So thanks to all again.
Now let's get back to the battling.

Matt going to get his devining rod. We are pretty sure that there is water around here somewhere.

After a few hours of working on the site, we decided to put the boats in the water and have some fun.
The world fleet decided to take on the Italians. So the Hood (Matt), and the Prinz Eugen (Gerry), were pitted against
the Roma (Val), and the Cavour (Mikey).
We weren't sure how much trouble the moss would be, so we decided to have a one sortie battle, and go from there.
As it turned out, we had some issues in the first sortie, but then added a second sortie, and then a third.
I decided to try to stay out of the moss as much as possible. And that seemed to work well for me.
Others ran into the moss occasionally, and the results were less desireable.
    More pics later.
