This is a pretty good sized boat. Only about 30-40 ft longer than the larger cruisers, but soooo much wider. And beautiful.

That's a french tri-color that she is wearing. The French flag is red white and blue. The Italian I think is red white and green.

    That's a fine looking ship Mikey... I hadn't looked in a while :)

All the painting/renovating and moving has distracted me quite a bit, but on the plus side, I got quite a few power tools donated to my shop when people found out I was going to have a big one.

Yesterday while boxing things, I uncovered my Tirpitz frame pictures (need to glue them to some thick ply and cut 'em out) and that helped motivate me to get done with the house crap :) So dd your Strasbourg pics :)

They are steel barrels that I got from BDE. They sell them already bent, and cut.

Beautiful. I especially like the shot where she is sailing away from the camera.

You can see a drive motor in the one picture, does it actually push that big beast around? It looks pretty small.

On the first page, about the third picture down, where he shows the stern guns.

I suspect that is one of two. The nearer one being hidden by the side of the hull.

The motors that I have in her at this time are Wah-Mings (12 volts), very efficient. They do get her up to speed just fine, but I have to admit that I have been looking for something larger, in the way of motors, just because they look too small for the application.
They have been just fine for all of the trials so for.
I used them in my small-gun Jean Bart (24 seconds). She is around 38 lbs.
The Strasbourg will be more like 70+ lbs, but is also slower.
So to make a long story even longer. The Wah-Mings seem to be doing fine, but I plan to replace them with something bigger, if I find something.

Well...if it has four shafts you could put 1 motor on each. Plenty of power.

Otherwise gear 2 motors to each shaft.

I expect that at our speeds, one per shaft would do it. I hope. Cause if it doesn't I lose even more room!

Yes..I had not considered your need for more robust internals.
