Well, I have to admit that I have never had her get lost in the shop. I hope to get back to work on her in May, but it seems like there is always other stuff going on. Mikey
Great looking ships! The last time I saw Phil's Tashkent, it was a framework of ribs. Nice to see it moving along too. I am dying to start on my Battlestations ship(s). In fact, I have a friend machining out pieces for the Jean Bart's main cannons. They are monsters!
Sweet. I am still wanting to build a Bearn for Battlestations, but I need to slow down on my building for a while. Good things come to those who wait. Mikey
I'd love to start one too, but i need to finnish my current project first. I know most Battlestations! people are starting big, I'd start small, with a convoy ship, lightly armed (and maybe not at all): General Info: http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/ships/fleettender/adolfluderitz/index.html and 1/100 plans: http://www.dreadnoughtproject.org/plans/KM_Schnellboot-Begleitschiff_1938//generalansicht_100dpi.jpg A small 23 kt s-boat tender with the size of a destroyer and 2 4.1 inch guns
Actually, I think there is more medium and small ships than big ships. The only big ships so far is a Yamato and Mikey's Strasburg. I plan on building a Jean Bart this coming winter. For smaller ships, there is a Tashkent and Mogador. I'm also looking at an Emile Bertin after the Jean Bart. So I guess it is about even so far. heh.
Thankx anachronus, i just happened upon it, and though it would be a great starter ship before i crack out a Graf Spee.
I have always liked the Omaha class. I considered building one myself, but decided to stick with the French just so that I could battle on either team to help keep the teams even. But it is looking more like France against the world as time passes. Mikey
I just can't bring myself to build French because the ships had no history. They look good, and have excellent combat characteristics in our hobby but what did any of them ever do?
I guess u could count some the axis-side ships with some interesting things, but that ended at mes-el-kabir (spelling?). But i kno wat u mean, who wants to do a ship that accomplished nothing.
I think of one French ship that did something that no buddy harping on the french on this forum can say they accomplished, two weeks from now, Mikeys Straussberg will have fired the first shots against another battlestations boat, ever, atleast on this side of the entire planet, sounds pretty substantial to me, dont get me wrong i like history (which Mikey will be making) but im not going to build an enterprize, and san fransico just because they have so many battle stars ( okay my Jersey has alot of history....) looks like atleast the model version of the Straussberg will be making history......
The Strasbourg was moved from the shelf to the dockyards this morning. I will try to post some new photos later this weekend. Mikey
