Personally i would not want subdecks preinstalled as I like lots of access to the insides early on. YMMV Unless the openings are simply cavernous I guess?
Yes. I use cardboard lip. 1” all around. No cross members. Laminated in top and bottom with a nice wide lower. The deck for this model has great structure and can be built as removable but still has nice charging/reloading hatch under the superstructure. I’ll do it tomorrow and show it off when I pull the deck. I had too many power boats to make tonight and wasted a big chunk of the day on the PE
Won’t know until it’s finished. Materials will be measured. Hopefully Monday God willing and the creek don’t rise.
I had to pull this deck real quick to get the mold cleared for #2. (Being sprayed with a bunch of powerboat reloads). No time to do anything with it. quick pic with some extras from plugs for reference. Lots more to come.
Yes. A lot more details to follow. Turrets; naval 88’s; torpedo launchers; Bofor Guns; deck boats, cranes; Seaplane w/launcher; radar masts; spotlights; crows nests.... the works.
I sure hope that foam smokestack isn't supposed to be an emergency float. It's right between the masts, making it very likely to get tangled as the ship sinks. It's also exposed to hostile fire, making it possible to inadvertently deploy early and get tangled in props. A better idea would be to make the entire upper level of superstructure from foam, and use that as the float. Nice looking deck though, having a bunch of details directly molded in makes things easy for the builder.
Look closely and you will see the whole superstructure is removable, and made from molded urethane foam (With fiberglass armor skin). That’s the plug set in place for effect. Lots more superstructure parts still to come.
Tim, I've loved Eugen for as long as i can Remember! but I can't control my feeling for her, that why I haven't gotten her yet!! Nikki
Sorry this has taken so long to push this model across the finish line. So many small parts molds... and power boats to build. Will be done soon
Better let us get it done first. 15 year old rubber molds might not handle the reactivation. Already had my Bofors guns mold give up a big chunk. Dori has amazing talent and is itching to get the clay out and make even nicer parts than my art school dropout parts from a decade and a half ago.
No joy on details progress... too many power boats. You guys think you’re tough on boats? Did you ever see a go fast power boat driven by little nephew Joey hit the sea wall at open throttle? It’s not pretty to most, but for us....BEAUTIFUL!!! Lol... We did manage to slip the PE hull & Deck molds into the mix for another gel shot.
