I started the funnel caps and they are currently puttied. I will have to drill out the top of the cap to hollow it then make a grill for the cap that sits atop of it. Once I get that done just a matter of adding the details and then paint them and attach. I can then attach the smoke pipes inside the funnel and secure them .

I completed the bow gun tub shield and have ammo boxes placed in locations throughout the model. So were moving along. This model will be heavily detailed and have working smoke from the funnels. I know it will be launched in the spring of 2017 .

Well back from vacation. Hope to finish up the Funnel caps and get them mounted . Once they are I can install the smoke generator for both funnels. After that the catapults and cranes would be the next items . Then the breakwater and all the other deck clutter will go aboard. From there the details to the superstructure along with the masts and radar, and the aft mast will be made.

I ordered a pair of catapults and a Crane from Shapeways 3D . This is for Montana and not for battle. They are highly detailed pieces. Look forward to getting them.

Ok guys time to update the Montana here. This is going to take a lot of pics so it will be a while. To put it in a nutshell sort of Cosmetically she is about 90% complete. Functionally she needs to have all of her wiring harnesses hooked up and she needs her smoke generator plumbing installed. Then it is on to bench testing followed by launch and sea trials and finally the passing grade .

Still sorting through the pics but my scanner in my computer is having issues reading the pictures from the SD card. Hopefully I can get the Montana pics sorted out and have them posted here.

The previoius pics of the catapults show the Shapeways 3D printed versions. They are fragile but nice. More updated construction pics ...

More updated pics ... these are the planes from Shapeways 3D Frosted print. Very strong. Stronger than my 1/144 Airfix models.
