Well I guess I have finally decided to work on the KronPrinz a bit more. and while yes once done here I will actually be doing some more work to her I will show a few pictures of her so far. Ok here she is on the bench a full shot. You need to realise I am useing a Cannon EOS 10D for the pictures and shooting from over the hood of my Corvette. Close in from the stern above. Rudders and the Main 2 inch prop. Amidships with the clutter inside of her. From the Bow Super Structure under construction. Well that is it for now on the KronPrinz, but I willleave folks with the shot of another project that has sat about for a bit in the guarge as well.
Well I got both my Des Moines and the Kron Prinz into the back of the Corvette two days ago and brought them over to my dads for a bit. I got him doing some wood work for me for them. A neat pair of stands for display and working on at battles will be made for both ships. The thing about taking in the 03 Corvette Z06 is that IO have determined I can transport both ships, tool boxes, Radio boxes, a small table and a pair of duffel bags in the car. This means I can transport my ships to battles and a passenger. This is good as it will mean the Corvette is a better car for me than the Caviler I had borrowed from my folks that could only transport the Des Moines by taking up the front Passenger seat. BTW rarena that is a nice looking goat. I am a bit of a Muscle car guy myself. Used to own a 1966 GT Convertible Mustang Tonight I have got the bases of a few of the spot light levels for the front and rear stacks of the Kron Prinz cut out. I will be adding the rails to them after I get the spot lights in from BC tomorrow. I want to see how I will mount the lights before I add the rails. Gotta start working on the area at the base of the rear stack here soon and then the few minor details about both stacks. I will be completing my deck work soon on the Kron Prinz when I get the boat back along with the coke bottle armor mounting ribs. Water channeling is on the agenda and then mounting the guns up. I should have her ready for Sea Trials mid December if I am lucky and keep with the drive to work on her.
As once said Before yours is very nice. I am hoping mine ends up as nice looking visually. I realize that battle will over time degrade some of the detail work, but then again sometimes the battle damage just looks all the more realistic as well. I got a plug for a Kaiser I am doing the final sculpting work for right now or will be once I finish working on Kron Prinz. I will have the rear funnel done in blood red as is actually note for atleast two of the Konig Class ships at one time.
10 battles only 60 holes thay dont like to play with me it sucks couse we are so slow cant go and get um so have your team stay with you or bring them to you
thank you Anachronus you can see thay shot my chang off and 26 holes in 3 Sorts my 1st battle.the konig sits so low thay go after my team then call 5 and i cant catch them
Sweet I can't wait to build mine and battle with it. Your ship is my GO to for inspiration Joker. Tks.
Joker do you have any more beauty shots of Konig? I like to print off and have them for reference when I am building. I usually keep photos of a project at my building station. BTW: What does your Konig use for propulsion?
That sure is nice, I'm thinking that looks like a decent boat for rookies too. Is it friendly enough or would you not recommend it?
Im thinking of the ARA Rivadavia as a second ship. 28 seconds, 5.5 unis. but thatll be after college or i sell the spee. Not sure though, but an argentine ship would be cool. And the bc guys said that it is an intermediate ship for fast gun
It is a good ship to play with for someone with a build under teir belt. Fitting all the equipment is a bit more of a challenge. As for a ship to battle. It's speed lends it to being a hug and slug ship. so rookies will get to learn to retrieve sunk ships, patch a lot, and how to resheet in maybe more than once a season. There are a lot of different ways to lay out the guns on this ship and each to their own. I am duals off the bow at Bravo turret. Delta haymaker at 45 degrees off the stern starboard and Echo as a haymaker 45 degrees off the stern to port. Curt just cause you asked Joker I will let ya know what I am going Propulsion wise. Single center shaft driven from a BC gear box with a 4 blade 2" prop at 25 pitch. This is all being Driven by an RS-750SH motor. a link to a company that makes them and the stats for it. http://www.aidamotor.com/ennntop.asp?pro_id=57&sort_id=9
Thanks for the pics, Ragresen! They're greatly appreciated. How's your dad's VDT coming along? Please include some shots of the wooden stands your dad is working on. I'm trying to get ideas for a design that works as an attractive display at home, transport to/from battles, and also does duty as a work stand for repairs at the lake.
Actually Dad has had issues personally, including an operation on his thyroid. Due to this he has decided that for now building a ship was not the right thing. so the VDT hull has not even been bought. The title on the thread should be redone to read just the Kron Prinz. I may build a VDT somewhere along the lines for him, but for now it is just the Kron Prinz to build and my Des Moines to refit. When I get a second DX6 transmitter I can allways let dad borrow the Des Moines. Motophoto: I will get a few pics of the stand over the Thanksgiving while I am over there. It is so far a pair of uprights that have been cut to the shap of the bottom of the hull. These will bet painted up a nice black and a good laqure coat. I will a a base that they will mount too that will get some nice endging work done to it and a small spot for mointing a brass engraved name plaque to the base. It is not too fancy, but once done will look nice and serve well a home display stand, work stand at battles and of course a stand for transporting the ship and will aid in preventing rudder and prop damage.
Sorry to hear about your dad. I can relate as mine has recently gone through some troubles. The stand sounds like the type of thing I'm interested in so thanks of the pics! But don't forget to also eat some turkey while you're over there. ;*)
I used small pvc piping as my stand. its not too far off the ground, but that can be fixed later. I dont know how to pics so i will explain verbally. 2 long pieces run along the bulge of my Spee at about 2/3 of the ships length centered. Next at each corner, there are elbows facing downwards. these are attached to vertical pieces that are the distance from the bulge to the bottom, long. Then, each of these corners has an elbow facing inward, which attaches the horizontal pieces that are as wide as the ships widest point at the bulge and are 90 degrees perpendicular to the first 2 pieces. All that is needed is a single 6 or 8 foot piece of i think 1 or 1/2 inch pvc piping and 8 elbows to fit. If done right it doesnt look to bad, keeps the boat relatively snug, can be made taller by adding legs, and leaves plently of room while still supporting the boat.

That sounds like a good set up there. I will check out that link. Thankyou again.
Curt that is what this forum is for in my eyes. We help each other out as we can. Also by sharing ideas we each can learn ways to improve our ships and make them more reliable. I realize each of us have our own requirements for the ships and that does make for the differences in each ship and the number of rules formats also make for some changes. Good luck on your Konig as I look forward to hearing more on it.
