Both the Garski & Dulin and the Friedman books list 46796 tons as the "emergency" load for the NC. If you read the text, this is including the extra fuel tanks. These were normaly used in long range Pacfic war sailing.

If you read the rules, you will find that ships are allowed 10% over scale weight, to allow for building errors. So for a NC this would be

    46796/1333 *1.1 = 38.61 lbs.

Which is what the ship list has listed.

BTW, for some reason IRCWCC ship list does not include the extra 10% even though it is legal to use. Also they did not update their ship list when new information became avaible.

If you look around, you can indeed find photos of the ships leaving port at rather low freeboard levels. They are not common, as they did not encorage people to photograph ships leaving port in war time.

MWC added the column for max+10% to ease weight verification at lakeside. Also, MWC has a dedicated shiplist committee.

I have to say from what I hear and what has been shared with me the committee is doing a great job with the ship list.

Nope I have not been working on her, started a new project. Marc wanted to do the Nagato's, but now that he's gone, he left it behind for me.

But I decided to try somthing different, so she will wait till next year as a guess. And I still need to get my Roma back together, also, damm I like that ship.

Lets see, refit the Roma, PE, Kumano, and finish the ID, Konig, Atlanta, and a pre-dred, I got too much on my plate. I think I just need to cut it down to 2 or 3 ships.

It will take me awhile to catchup to you Curt. But I'am working on a Mississippi for Tim, and got the turrets on order for my Atlanta to get her finished up.

I'm working on a scratch built hull for a Iron Duke, got the keel, ribs together, with the deck attached, will be filling the rib spaces in between over the weekend with balsa, She is looking pretty good. Then will glass it over like Mike did on his Frenchy carrier.

Looks like the easiest way to do it. I got a crap load of block balsa for $60 from BalsaUSA, so I think I have enough to make 3 or 4 if I don't waste it.
