Mostly out of curiosity (I never have got around to building a ship) is this a Big Gun or Fast Gun club?

Do you happen to know what thread the Big Gun clubs hang out on? Or are there any BG guys still around these days?

Thanks. They declared their group to be ‘defunct’ last May. And I can’t find any evidence online of much activity over at Western Warship Combat Club in the last year or so, either. North Texas Battle Group had a build this last November, though. South Coast Battle Group looked like they were trying to resurrect back in 2020-21, but it apparently didn’t happen. My hat’s off to you Fast Gun guys for enduring the last few years through the Great Recession, the Plandemic Lockdowns and everything else. Looks like Big Gun may have gone the way of the buffalo. Not quite extinct, just extremely rare for a while. We’ll see what the future brings. For now, though: Battle on, Fast Gun!

Compared to fast gun, all of the other miscellaneous formats combined equal maybe 1/4th of our member base.

Not trying to pick on the other formats, just stating facts.

That population gives fast gun it's staying power.

    Z Boat,
That’s great news. Wasn’t WWCC the group that did the battles at Maker Fair? Do you intend to do those again?

Yes, WWCC did Maker Fair but not anymore and I do not know why. There are a few of us looking into fast gun and going up to Washington once a year.

    NTXBG is still going.

We did the build sessions in Nov and December, then holiday dinner & elections in early Jan, and have a club meeting this Sunday.

…and you have a picture of Surcouf as your avatar! Or a CAD rendering of the model, it looks like? Is that your ship?
I’d noticed you guys were still hanging in there. That’s encouraging.
Also, when South Coast Battle Group was shutting down I thought one of the officers (don’t remember who) said they were entrusting NTXBG to preserve SCBG’s last rule book. Do you know anything about that? I’d love to get my hands on a copy if it’s out there.

    Justin,
Just now read your thread on the design and construction of Surcouf. Looks awesome! Can’t wait for you to post vids of her in battle.

Thanks!! It’s on hold atm so I can focus on the Deutschland. The club is trying to invest in ways to lower the bar of entry. A fully-printable and reproduce-able ship with big gun cannons is worth way more than a single submarine.
