the benefit of the 1/2 unit pump rule IS that you can go back to full unit and be safe from undo harm. And then use that 1/2 unit for guns.
And I didn't imply that you were stupid, just the concept of a full BB with compromised damage control is stupid.

poor form there, you have to put the ellipses in if you're going to edit down folks phrasing

This is starting to intrigue me. Not much issue to install a swap-able pump orifice and install the extra gun. Depending on the situation, go full unit on the pump and disable a cannon, or crank down the pump and load up more bb's! On my Barham, hot-swap pump orifice, rear side-mounts, trip bow, and 75 round mags all around for the ultimate in flexibility!

This rule allows flexibility we never had in the MWCI.

Not saying either rule was/is good, bad, or better. It just opens more possibilities for many ships depending on the situation.

Um...Steve, I greatly respect your engineering ability. But putting triple-bow (3 guns) in a QE-class turret, while possibly doable from an engineering standpoint, violates the fact that they were TWIN gun turrets. ;)

I probably stepped over a line here.
Let me clarify that I give Nick a hard time about his pump, but Nick is an excellent captain. His ship is well made and VERY reliable. He is a terror on the pond (in spite of the cute little pump).

Tommy Tanner drove one for a bunch of years, one year his buddy Ken Kelly and Tommy started Nationals with average looking Derf's.

Then night by night both Ken and Tommy were building super and railing and ventilators and other "decor" so that by Thursday at Nationals they both had almost display quality models. "Detail Party" every night, damage repaired and new stuff added every night. Ken even had the Torpedo Nets built in to the side in little molded furled netting and the support rods. Just amazing stuff.

I drove a Derf for several years, fun fun fun ship. But it wasn't Jap enough so it had to go. Tyler battled a Derf for a couple Nats, very effective with an aggressive captain and a good pump. Tyler's was really ugly though. Almost as ugly as mine was with the foam funnels and superstructure shot full of bbs.

Mine's the dark grey one in the second photo down on the left side.

Derff can be an absolutely gorgeous boat when dressed up w/ termite armor, etc. She's a contender for "most beautiful battlecruiser" in my book.
