You can use the 2.4ghz radio. Lots of guys have moved to that, seams to work very well. Starting from nothing to having a complete ship will cost you between $400-$1000. Depends on what kind of ship, cruiser less big battleships more, and how much you build yourself, buying guns more building your own less. Sometimes (like with guns) paying for quality is a good idea.
