A new hull mold being worked on from Strikemodels.
Anyone want to take a guess as to what ship this is?

I don't recall external armor belt and torpedo bulges on the SoDak and Iowa class. The angle of the Atlantic bow seems to match the Iowa more closely than the NC, and the wooden brace in the middle suggests that there was some modification or extension made in that area. The hull was photographed at an angle, which makes it hard to see the full length, but it seems to be very long. I can't see the stern to see the shaft arrangement. My bet is something longer than an NC since the middle appears to be extended and the nose doesn't match, but with an external armor belt and torpedo bulge that the Iowa and SoDak don't have.

I'd guess Montana, they already sell an Iowa and NC.

It is the USS Montana class battleship.
It will be a very interesting ship to see on the water.
    Well done Nick.
    And bravo to Strikemodels.

Nice hull, too big and out of dates for some clubs.
    Limited use canoe... but pretty

Montana by the looks of the armor belt on the hull. The bow gave it away as an IOWA but the rest of the hull looks like it took steroids. I see a new ship in my collection.

Does IRC allow laid-down-but-never-finished boats, or is it just THAT cool, Curt? :)
I think one would be fun in Big Gun, but the nearest BG group doesn't allow hypotheticals, and I know for certain MWC doesn't.

BB67 or BB41? I know if they didnt launch you cant use them in MWCI. What clubs would allow it to battle when it had never been completed?

Depending on where you research some sources say they were ordered but never even started. I think they were canceled prior to start of construction and the 5 and 6th iowa's were started.

They're good to go in the WWCC. Real monsters, too. I helped build one a few years ago. The Montana is one of the few giant ships with enough guns to justify its size in Big Gun combat. Other giant ships like Yamato and H-39 are simply too big for the number of guns they carry. Their eight or nine 1/4" guns are spread over a very large area, making what would be a powerful broadside on a smaller ship into something far less scary. Montana's twelve guns are split into two densely packed groups, either one of which carries as much or more firepower than smaller ships can bring to bear. There may be other ships that are faster or more maneuverable, but no ship can take damage and deal it out like a Big Gun Montana.

Bah! My hypothetical Imperial Star Destroyer will simply vaporize the Monty from it's non-scale orbit of 20 feet :)

I think the Montana Class is legal for Washington Treaty Combat plus any club that allows hypotheticals under local rules.
