sounds like ur in a tight spot...hmm well you could always heat up a knife and push against glue the quikly pry off wile still hot
If you heat it up with a hair dryer, that will soften it up enough that you might be able to remove the glue gun glue by scraping it off with a flathead screwdriver. The other options are, if you have a freezer big enough, put your LST in and freeze the glue, it should pop right off with a little prying. Acetone (aka nail polish remover) will work also, but you may need to soak the glue for a little bit to soften it up, scrap off, and repeat if necessary.
You'll need a metal scraper Nikki. You may be able to prise the whole thing up if you can get a strong blade under it, but please be careful. If prising up the whole thing looks like it may cause danage, then using a sharp, strong blade and chiselling it away bit by bit may be your best bet.
i say use a flat head screw driver and needle nose players and have at it, i messed up a bit on my bis with that damn glue had to peel off
Guys, Question: What is the best thing to use to mount motor mounts??? I was looking at putting a three in board to mount them on, what do you guys thing?? Nikki
I used a combination of the 3000 stuff and thick CA along with some hot glue just to make sure they dont come undone.
No,super glue is rigid and will crack with the vibrations. Use Plumbers or Marine GOOP. It stays flexible enough that it won't crack. J
Thanks BB! Would it be better to mount them on wood and then glue the wood to the hull!!! also when it come to time to sheet the ship, can I use Contact Cement or would CA Glue work best?? Nikki
You would want to build a mount for the motors and then glue the mount to the bottom of the hull. You would want it so that there is no kinking between your universal joint and the motor.
You can sand the bottom of those mounts (only if necessary) so that the motors line up properly with the drive shafts with as little angle as possible. You simply glue those BC motor mounts to the bottom of the hull of your LST. No, CA glue or contact cement will not work. I epoxied mine to the hull, but I'm sure the plumbers/marine goop that other people have mentioned will work fine.
E-6000 glue will work very well for gluing those to the hull. You can find it in the arts and crafts section inside Walmart.
You guys, Are all give me a lot of Ideas, Now i just have to nail my mom's butt down and work on her, yes i meant the boat ! I know that's not nice, but it true!! as it turns out the E-6000 is craft glue is good for wood, metal, glass, fiberglass, ceramics, masonry, concrete, leather, rubber, vinyl and many plastics. i wasn't sure if any of you know that! also Off topic, I was looking at one of the other thread and RichelieuBB say something about putting magnets in the ships what do you guys thing, i'm going to do it more with the LST!! but if i can find little ones!
