im using magnets to hold deck down thoroughly so not much water comes in and it looks better and i think it helps out when your deck starts to bow it forms it back to shape, at least that's what i have been experiencing lately with my bis.

u can pick up a magnet that extends in a auto shop its for getting bolts and nuts in a hard to reach places i used mine when i split like all 6000 bbs in my bis on accident it works really well and picks up clusters.

    Dave,
I got one of those from a friend, but I'm going to take it for battles, but Im looking at the magnet that way, the BB's stay away from the motors!

u will need 2 strong magnets one aft of the motors and one fore that way they are around the magnets and not the motors

ok the objective is to keep bbs away from motor right? well have magnets glued to bottom of water channel about 2-3 inches away fore and aft of the engines that way the bbs when they roll to the engine they will hit the magnets before they get to the engines if your that concerned.

Nikki, could you start either making proper links or put images into your posts instead of pasting URLs? Having to copy-paste urls into new tabs saps my will to live.

Why not put it out on the water and try it out? then you'll know for sure if its an okay setup.

ok well cant you make a water channel in that or is it to thin? if you cant get several magnets and glue them in the center of the hull. like on in the bow one in mid ship and one in the aft or add more if you want thats my best idea do u can try to keep an even weight distribution

Eh, just plunk down the magnets fore and aft roughly down the center-line. If the BBs roll around they will eventually roll to the magnets.

Exactly what i was trying to say earlier its very simple and you dont need large magnets either those small strong magnets work great an they are like 50 cents each then just glue em down

    Nikki,
Take some GOOP, put a dab in the front of the water channel, stick a small strong magnet into the goop and leave it to set.
Take the GOOP and do the same thing at the back of the water channel, preferrably before the pump. That way the bbs will not interfere with the pump. If your motors are off the bottom of the hull, and they should be, then bbs will not interfere with them.

    Jay,
because my LST is going to be moved between the IRC and the treaty, I've chosen not to put a pump in her, in since i cant have it in the IRC!!! But I'm, taking her with me to Northern VA when my Mom and I leave!!!

im sorry nikki but idk what the problem is, you said earlier that your afraid the bbs will interfere with the engines and we all said put magnets down to attract bbs away from the motors. then i could understand the pump thing but u are not running a pump so what is the problem if we gave you the solution? and whats with the balsa sticks your talking about im so confused on what you want done and if i may speak for everyone i think they are confused as well. can you write i nice detailed paragraph explaining whats wrong and what you want to do to stop it?

If you are not putting a pump in you dont need magnets in your lst. Just wrap some window screen mesh around the vents on the motors. This may not even be necessary if the 380s in your boat dont have any holes big enough to allow a bb through.
