Look again, 1963... ... and I have to say it Dude, I think your full of yourself. I'll take my leave from responding to your posts (or reading them) and wish you luck in any of your endeavors involving the hobby.
1963? I was burning down the neighborhood with pop bottle rockets! The good old days. Steve, I'm still finding bbs in my hull from your sneaky oblique guns.
Someone tell him how far into a piece of white styrafoam 300fps puts a bb. Then he can dial it up or down to get a similar depth. I personally don't know, but that seems easy enough.
While I am interested in any and all potential advancement of cannon design, this whole combative attitude is such a stumbling block. I hope you can take this constructively. For someone so educated, you can seemingly be really thick headed at times. Now before you get all combative again hear me out. I suffer from a similar affliction. It took me a while to realize it and it made for some hurt feelings that are still sore in some places I'm sure. I don't want to run ANYONE off ECT. I am actually attempting, in my own blunt and honest way, to help you avoid the same issues. If you don't care then that's fine too and I won't mention it again.
I would say Steve is more skeptical than combative. I believe we are all intrigued. The primary source of the intrigue for me is that dozens of captains have been innovating for dozens of years. Some things don’t change too much. I would be very impressed to see something novel and practical to implement! I say you innovate to your hearts content. My opinion below: I would advise you make sure it can abide by the existing rules or it will meet a brick wall of resistance. Also if it is makes the game horrifically unbalanced, expect it to get neutered until it can be implemented well.
Fair enough. Since those two “sparred” I thought it was your reference point. Combat(ive) takes two parties.
Goes back over a couple different threads. The guy don't take polite suggestions well and gets combative. That's why Steve reacted how he did. Pretty sure anyway. Lol.
Wow. I’m a pretty private low key guy. I asked two simple questions: Are non pneumatic cannons allowed? What is the muzzle velocity limit? Then people start talking...and making assumptions, and insults. I never insulted anyone. I laugh and let it run off my backside. I work hard and make cool stuff. Brooklyn #1 will be for sale tomorrow. Non-pneumatic cannons powered by flux capacitors, mounted In coconut turrets and aimed by trained gerbils will be a winter project. Tim... leaving Dori out of this one. Modelshipsahoy.com
I don't think there are current rules that prohibit you from using one and there is no velocity limit currently. The question of whether that will stay that way is most likely dependent on whether your cannon ever shows up at a battle, so build away. Btw, is that an Elco 77 in the pic?
I think it’s an Elco 80(PT 103 class). I have one from him in 1:24. He mentioned in another post that he is going to offer a 1:16 one in time.
