This is my first time getting into these Battleships. I'm so excited to be building the Dunkerque. I honestly am learning as I go. Please feel free to comment and offer suggestions. I'm doing my best building this ship correctly.

Is that cannons I see in the background of one of those photos? I sure hope so! Dunkerque is a great ship in Big Gun, so I wish you good engineering, happy building, and even better battling.

Yup. Those are the cannons. They're from an older ship I bought from someone.

Question: is this needed to strengthen the sides or is it not necessary? I'm sure it would help but is it really worth it? Do these side pieces get destroyed?

probably not. That looks like a pretty thick fiberglass hull, those ribs should hold up under fire quite well. Big Gun ships have pretty thick balsa wood as well, which helps spread the impact out and dissipate energy. If this was a super-thin Swampy hull from the 90's or early 2000's, then it would need rib reinforcement. But I bet you'll be just fine without it.

That said, rib reinforcements can still prove useful for things like holding blast shields in place, mounting cross-braces to, holding servo mounts or other structures, etc.

Awesome. Thank you for the response. That helps. This is my first time getting into this and I'm learning a whole lot along the way.
