Hope to finish up the CO 2 layout this evening and tomorrow begin the installation of the system inside the hull. Tested several times without seals and with seals. Works fine so far. Short a couple of seals. Strike contacted me about my order for Bismarck. Subdeck is holding up the process. I advised to complete the order without the Subdeck and have the subdeck shipped to me when ready.
More progress made. However a couple of small setbacks. First I had no room for the small accumulator between the radio box and the Drive motor mount. So that was repostioned ahead of the pump on the port side alongside the drive motor mount. 2nd the MOUNT worked great for the main accumulator forward of B Turret however when I placed the forward hatch back on the deck the A cannon gas caps were striking the accumulator. No clearance. I dropped the accumulator down to the keel and still had no clearance. The cannons were set and I did not want to reorganize that section again. Instead I rearranged the postion of the actuators so that one set faces the port side armor horizontally and the 2nd set is upright leaning towards the stbd armor shield. This allows the accumulator to be moved from the center of the hull to the stbd side. This allows free clearance. Now that's resolved just need to secure all the hoses and begin the electrical installation. I picked up Deans connectors for the battery harness today. They have the least resistance and secure very nicey.
LOL, it must be one of those days. I put my bis back together. I couldn't close the back half either, interupter resting on accumulator. Sea trails today went well with the exception of hot motor and intermediate radio cutout. I had to seperate the wiring but I knew that was the problem. Got it back inside to rework the guts, now pump stays on with no water so I will be installing new auto switch. I can't complain as it has been there since 2003 and I just did a month of pump testing with it. A few minor changes and I will be ready for regionals. I plan on getting her back out next weekend too. I want to run it every week until regionals to keep it warmed up for the battling season.
Sounds great Iceman. I had more setbacks when I was attaching the plumbing. I had it all plumbed with hoses except for the small hoses, laid the hatch back down..and clink clink. The large hose was forcing the accumulator to the center again and it was getting in the way of the cannons. Grrr.... I must have interchanged teh fittings a dozen more times to get it where I needed it. You think they thread it in a way that when you screw a valve on it doesn't go off center or other weird angles. Any I got it resolved finally just need to brace the accumulator and keep it secured in that one spot. So I was short on O- rings and those 2 direction threaded fittins where the threads are on both ends to allow connections to things like actuators that don't have a thread protruding on the end. Now to attach the small hoses. The large hoses are secured with clamps. Hope to finish that business today and get on to the electrical system. Wil post pics as time permits and my Great niece is away from my computer..Teenagers.. sigh...
At it again last night. After redesigning the layout I found out what I did wrong. Corrected it and it all works. Course Spaghetti is best eaten outside of the hull. Currently reassembling the entire system bit by bit and placing it in the hull till completed. Probalby get it completed by Tomorrow for sure then on to the electrical.
I'm back at mine too. I have a new auto switch wired up and in, I have a new pump made up and ready as a back up. I sorted most of the wiring out and now to make it ready for this weekends sea trials again....
Good news. ALL Pneumatics are installed and Tested and operational. I will post pics later hopefully. I had just 2 leaks and a stuck valve. Just need to test fire the cannons and tweak them. Then I will begin on the electrical wiring harnesses and switches .
I was able to test the A turret dual sidemount. So far it works fine but needs minor tweaking. I hope to get the ship on the water this weekend for sea trials.
