I have a bunch of 6v speed controls and other stuff from the 1970s and 1980s. Would this still be good to run now, or just up grade?

Buying new will save a lot of failures. Hobbywing speed controls are well proven and waterproof out of the box. There’s a lot of existing info out there buried in other threads, but if you need specifics just ask (I.e I need and ESC for X boat with x motors)

That’s a good move. I don’t even want to drive a car from the 80s. Even the first ESC people started using in 04-07 are trashy compared to items you can get now.

Been looking around just not sure what is needed. Brushed or brushless, do I need two esc for two motors. This will be for the Duca.

Brushed is fine for a little CL. As others mentioned, the Hobbywing brushless controller is excellent, highly recommended:

If you want to source motors on your own, well, that's a thing ...
You'll want something like a 380/390/400 motor, but preferably not a "hot" one. So, no Traxxas Titan 380, for example.
    This might do good, though:

    Or maybe these:

Just search Amazon or Ebay for "380 motor" etc and see what you find, or maybe someone will recommend something here. I have no idea on the motors I linked, but they sound like they have potential to me because "torque". I'm also presuming you want to run direct drive, in which case, you don't want a super high RPM motor.
Anyway, best of luck to you, and hopefully someone will have some good info for you.
Also, if you have some old motors, they're probably fine. Just a little oil and away you go.

Here's a recent thread with some more info and a source for some very inexpensive motors that other battlers have recommended.

Thanks for the info. Was planning on 380 motors direct drive. Just waiting for things to arrive.
