Working on a new prototype and I screwed something up. No idea what yet, might not investigate too hard since this was plan B and plan A already works. The electronics physically look fine but the main IC has all of it's pins shorted together which isn't typically good, oh well. I probably rushed the setup since I knew this wasn't critical and it bit me a little bit, I have parts for another shot, we'll see if I'm feeling industrious. Smoke pouring out sure gets you moving quick...atleast I was in the shop and could vent it, I almost tested it at my desk upstairs, that would have been really bad.

meh. If you don't fail every so often are you really pushing yourself?

The smoke and toasted wire have pretty much zero to do with the problem, they are symptoms. Just slightly more fun than the last good electronics problem I had where I was burning holes through the top of IC packages due to SCR-Latchup. Finding a problem that you don't even know is a thing is tricky...

Without failure how can there be learning?

I can't count how many times I have let the magic smoke out of things, lol.
