What a way to spend retirement...

Hopefully it is resolved sooner then later and one of the cities will get her soon. It's sad to drive past the ghost fleet and see it out there rusting away. I hope it ends up in the bay area as it's a lot closer to me, and it would be cool to see it at Mare island... but even if LA ends up with it at least it's still not on the east coast like the rest of the battleships still around.

I'd just as soon see her back in action or at least made active enough to be an operational memorial for annual short-cruises... but that is a pipe dream of monstrous proportions, as the costs of maintaining the ship in a ready-to-sail status would likely far outstrip the budget for simply maintaining her as a floating museum. At least they aren't talking about scrapping the ship, which would be a monstrous travesty.

Whatever they do, it better be fast. The Iowa is not in particularly good condition.
