The islands would be within sight (ten or so feet) so you could see the targets? Does that make sense?

Sure does, you can't shoot what you can't see.

Could you reach the targets from that distance. I do believe the IRCWCC rules allow you to get within 2 feet. with a fifty foot harbour to allow capts in and out. The target would have to be scale too. The person who operates the island would have to let everyone know when they are out of commision.

A radio would also be needed to operate the cannon, would the club buy this. How many rounds would be allowed for the cannon. I would think you would need a large amount of BB's.

Single cannon.... fifty rounds. You have to calculate for your CO2 as well right? Don't want to make the island too lopsided.

I was thinking more then fifty. when you have 2 or 3 ships coming at you 50 can go rather quickly. How about 100.

Single cannon with 75 rounds. With one target just for the cannon and when it gets knocked down then the cannon is out of commision.

Single cannon works well. Now how should it be mounted? I am thinking got to have a down angle if mounted at elveation. The elevation should be enough so that it can downangle the shot so that the land cannon can strike at the enemy ship firing at the base at close range, and strike the ship on or below the wateline. Maybe 2 cannons here, one closer to the ground but depressed because we don't wnat the bbs to skip out or deflect in the air and the other to fire downangle for below the wateline. THE ISLAND would have a barrier in front of it 2ft or 3 feet or 5 ft . Need to work out the barrier but it should not prevent a ship from getting a shot and vice versa.
