I'm using a 0.25mm layer for most of the part. This is my new default "coarse" setting, since it is easier to remember to draw parts in increments of 1/4 mm heights. You can see that the tops of the secondaries look pretty smooth: I changed to 0.1mm layers just for the top surface of the turret. Normally I use 2 or 3 top layers, but when going down to the 0.1mm layers I had to change that to 5 or 6 layers to avoid voids. I'll post the files for these soon. I made some changes to the Liberte secondaries and I want to do a test print before I post them. However, I tore the printer down for some upgrades this weekend, so it will be a couple more days before I can print again.
There's only one place that jam belongs, and the nozzle of my printer is NOT it. Good luck getting yours un-jammed, Tugboat. I had to get a special set of drill bits to fix mine.
Currently it looks like they may run sea trials only. I do not think I will be able to get them battle ready in time. So hopefully we will get some photos of them on the water. Mikey
We were able to get the two new ones on the water for sea trials yesterday. Vance has decided that he likes the Republique. So I get to keep my Danton. Mikey
Good question. Normally when I lack plans I mentally rough all SS levels to be about 5/8" - however Mark did produce some plans for the super (available at http://www.jenkse.us/rcengr/Potemkin superstructure.pdf ) on which the 01 level measures 0.70 inches for me.
If you click on the kits hyperlink in my signature and scroll down to the Libertie, there is a hyperlink there to PDF plans.
I really like these ships. I could see Fleets of these in RC Combat with just the PredDreadnoughts battling only.
