I thought PE was an AXIS ship. I never seen played as an Allie ship in the hobby. THE "GREEN HORNET" will be test trialed in the tub tomorrow. Cannons are installed mounted and secured in their barbettes. Turrets are secured to the barbettes. Float test and stability test tomorrow. I got more pics coming.. stay tuned.

Ok just to back up a bit. Here is the PE getting the funnels and final pieces of the superstructure added before leaving the shipyard for good.

    How the funnels were made.

And now how the cannons were mounted in the barbettes and how the turrets are secured... KISS principal is in full force here...

    KISS PRINCIPAL....

This is my favorite sidemount...just looks...MEAN!

Stupid way to attach a turret but you know what.. I used this on Bismarck and it's still there after 18+years.Velcro that is..great stuff and cheap..

The backside underneath a turret. Velcro strip grips the strip on the barbette.Viola! Instant secure. Best is you can't break it off from a bb impact, it won't disolve in water or get weak..it's super light..no screws or tools involved..just works stupidly..LOL.I never had a turret dislodged off a barbette from bb impacts or Rams. The only time when it came off when 2 seniors in a canoe raced(yes they paddled quite hard) after Bismarck out of control and full speed reverse in the grove heading out to the middle of the Grove. They caught up and tried to stop Bis and lift her by the turrets.3 held but one was pulled completly off and lost to the deep.

    AAANnyywayy...

How much time did you spend on making a Turret mount?... 15 minutes for all 3 for me...

Here is the turret..nice and snug on the Barbette.

OH..did I mention that it's really really strong??. Here is a strength test with loaded cannon included.

I love a tight fit on a barbette.

There it is. The other strips were my first attempt. I decided not to fuss on it and go back to KISS principal.

The rubber kneepads at the dollar store are best material to use. Lets see..turret mounts, water channelling, supestructures...liveboats...the list goes on.

    Another happy Turret.

Another strength test this time the hatch contains 2 CANNONS.

I can hear the "JAWS" theme when I see this sidemount....ohhh nasty.

The stern cannon. Don't let the angle fool you.The bb will actually clear the deck. I tried it.....oooooooohhh NASTY!!! Are you Nervous MR.CROMWELL??
Oh wait sir! Your NAGATO forgot it's bags!! Don't leave...LOL

Stern Sidemount... Another favourite....AWW hell I like this ship!

Ok last shot of the sidemount...Da dum..daaadum..dumdumdumdumdumdum..didididoo...

Australia the BG guys got them down there. There pretty good too. I don't know if Ralph Coles still makes them anymore. He may have sold the molds to Mike Deskin.Check with Mikey on that one. Bob Pottle would probalby have a better idea where that hull is.

Wow.... Curt.... quit out doing yourself here. Gawd that is a sweet ship! Can't wait to see her sailing with Bismarck crashing the Allied hopes and dreams of victory! Love the angles.... love the turret fittings.... love it. Love it! Good job Curt! Very excellent views of the KISS method on mounting the guns... Velcro.... Dollarama knee pads.... cheap easy and smart. The way to go for sure. Foam has been installed in the Malaya.... check out the battery tray pics in the Malaya build there Curt... Chris' son William cut those out in 20 minutes..... perfect.
