Hot melt. Is was in the post like 4 times. It is also known as hot glue. Requires a hot glue gun to use it.
Ballasting, marking the waterline, and splashing the red. I wonder how many Atlanta builders have had to add 1/3 of a pound of ballast? The hull is leveled port to starboard and then blocked on both ends till the WL marks I made on the bow and stern (during the float test) are the same distance from the bench top. I then use calipers to mark the waterline. I mask to the line and splash the red on. A cheap source of custom colors are these paint samples available at your local home improvement or paint stores. I use the best grade of flat interior paint available. Cutting the 1/4" WL tape. The beauty shots. Not to shabby IMO. Battle ready!
Steve. She looks great. Can't wait to see the video from Spring Regionals this year! I hope chris has fun with her! Nikki
You do realize they sell 1/4" pinstripe tape at AutoZone, right. Looks good Steve! Can't wait to see it here soon.
Great Build thread Steve. Very innovative approach to many aspects, Thank you for sharing. One would think you spent time on Spruance class destroyers this build is so cool. Looking forward to seeing you at Nats. Craig
Last week before the years first battle and getting all those little nitnoid things out of the way. Safety pins for the guns Transport cradle Oh yeah, I've got other boats! Replacing the gun springs in my Barham (was having stuck piston issues). ...
hey Steve, is this what you used: https://www.homedepot.com/p/PC-Products-PC-7-1-2-lb-Paste-Epoxy-087770/100649631 ?? Let me know? Nikki
I've started using this stuff. It's cheap and seems to work as well as any epoxy putty. Hard to find at Home Depot. They keep it in the plumbing section. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RectorSeal-EP-200-2-oz-Epoxy-Putty-Stick-97601/100124697
Allowed? Nikki, the reason I post these build threads is so people can learn and hopefully get involved in the hobby (and maybe think out the box a little). Feel free to use anything you like.
