Ok, I made a scale size before I saw the results. Will remake a longer version after the first battle this weekend. Made a plug and poured the casting material One barrel created, next one is already in the mold. Then just two more. I used a small diameter brass rod to give it strength and be able to bend it back to shape if shot.
Are you going to have this thing done for Wade's? I gave up on finish my new one 6 weeks ago. Thought I'd cut it too close.
Nothing like a good battle test on Sunday for 2-3 sorties. Let's you know what's still in need of fix'n
You must have read the Debbie thing and it kinda got stuck in your mind and missed what I put after that. Who cares it's his build so if he shows up to an event I am sure he will be well prepared. as long as the DOT info is easy to read (it should be it is stamped), and the valve stem isn't painted you should be OK. These things get painted all the time in paintball. if you notice that's what I said. Readable. I left the Debbie thing out as not to confuse you. And the favor is... That it is going to get a cavity search. Go back to page 16 and read on. Not just my post. Hell he could coat it with vinyl and cut out areas to make it readable where needed.
And what is the vinyl covering, dents? deep gash? stress crack? I have seen a 16 gram powerlet fly in the pit and hit the master tank, the result was a flattened end on the powerlet (thank God). Respect for the pressures we use is wise, contempt for safety regulations will get you no-ware. Tanks that show ware and are used in a proper way are safe, tanks that have been dressed-up only show new color and not the metal, make me wary.
The scary truth is that there a lot of folk actually do not know what they are doing. While outright saying he would fail a ship for it may be a bit overdone the man has a valid point of view considering that his job is to pass/fail boats for safety reasons as well as construction.
Guys, I get it... Let me be clear, the tank comes from the factory with either paint or more likely powder coat. I am proposing to simply change the color, my original intent was to powder coat and I asked about removing the valve. There were initial concerns and talk about re-certifying the tanks. I believe we now have more information on testing and processes. I would like to believe that we can all agree that simply changing the paint is not a concern, otherwise how would you know that I had not repainted the tank black a year ago? We have a visual check system in place (Mark 1 eyeball), so if I post my build can we agree I am not trying to be callous with the rules?
With all this openness, I suspect you are trying to hide something. Do you have a Musashi under your hat? Submerged torpedo tubes? I do think removing the valve and powdercoating the tank should be a non-issue - especially in light of jadfer's inquiries in to the testing process. A fair point
He's allied....and worse, British. It would not be "proper" or show that notorious "stiff upper lip" if they bothered hooking up a pump. Why, that implies they might actually get SHOT AT!!
Put the QE in the water at the Brew, and promptly removed it due to trim issues. So, time to move some internals around so the aft end of the ship is already under water when you put it in the water.
Thank you for helping me at the Brouhaha with the aft of my ship. I'm hoping that after reworking the propulsion with Doug, I'll be in much better shape for staying level as well. Can't wait to get the haymaker readjusted to not use "rock" settings. lol
You're most welcome Nick. If you can, post pictures in this forum and we can help you. Now that we have time and not starting the battle in 5 minutes, we can come up with a better solution. Lou
