Rough template for the flag in the middle, will need to further sand then route the edges.

There really is no such thing as too much of an advantage.
When the axis start complaining, you can know you are doing it right.
    Let them play catch up.

Built the water channeling for the aft portion on the boat. This helps create the knuckle for the water to redirect back towards the pump (and not rush to the stern). Foam is curing prior to being sanded flush.

The bow is also getting foamed.

Starting the water channeling for the center section of the boat. I have glued in another 1/4 stringer for the fiberglass sheet to rest on so that everything is flat. I add the foam and then quickly glue down the sheet to the wooden stringers, then place weights on top to help force the foam to fill the entire cavity. Without the weights, the foam will actually push up the sheet.

Foam is coming up the sides, this will also create the base for the angle so that water is directed towards the middle channel.

The foam will also seal underneath the 1/4 inch strips.

Epoxy is used with micro balloons to give a nice curved radius to the center water channeling.

With guests at the battle site, one of the questions you get is "What ship is this?". Hopefully this will help them. On the transport/docking board, the bow of the ship goes towards the left side.

The name plate is raised from the board.

The flag sits in the middle of the board, this is a vinyl sticker on top of cherry looking board. In this shot, the sticker is still on the backer (white edge around the flag) and once removed will have a nicer transition between wood and sticker.

Looking towards the bow, you can now see where the ram bow fits in the groove at the top of the board. Foam will go on top of the actual boat holders, so it didn't need to be perfect at this point. I still might modify the holders to have cut-outs and look a little more polished, not sure at this point.

God now I want to build boat stands for my fleet. How big would I need one for Montana? heh heh. Really love the flag . Great idea and the plaque. Large and easy to read particularly for the veterans. Awesome work.

While looking for paint colors, I ran across this on the steelnavy dot com website. Now I can get quarts from a big box store.

    Editor's Note:
The "matching paint chip" refers to paint colour samples available free at home improvement centers in the USA. "DB" indicates the "Dutch Boy" line available at Sears. It is not necessary that you buy a gallon of the indicated colour, probably enough for at least a thousand 1/700 scale models. Obtain the free chip, which has been painstakingly matched to the Munsell standard, and mix your own. And be aware that these chips are full scale matches. The smaller the scale, the more you will have to tone down the colour with white or light grey to obtain the right "look" in a 1/350 or 1/700 scale model.

Clark- Not heavy at all, this allows me to transport in the car and then go straight to the bench at pondside.
Might still add a few more colors to it, not sure at this point.
