More of a photo dump for now. Been chipping away on this one, looking forward to use during campaign. Also considering a printed version Strike hull picked up a few years ago motor mounts. Going with 540’s to have margin also subdeck round 1 standard traxxas mounts waterchannel deck going in Pump outlet rudders (printed)
Drew up barbs and turrets this morning Turrets will need some post processing aft sidemount Designed in hinge mounts, looks like they will work hopefully getting back into this build next week
Glued the barbs on last night Got the ships rotated so she’ll be back in the build space getting close to starting to drop things in, should have most parts in stock
Worked on this one a bit tonight, getting the gun mags bent to clear the pump/provide easy reload access Ill make the superstructure around the stack cover these up. Should be quick reload during campaign (no aft deck removal required) Dropped in elbow and tube for bow sidemount. That mag will be next, but 75rd-er so will need to get creative to get it to come out in a good spot She'll be borrowing the control box from Tromp (multi-C+ESC+Receiver in roughly 2x2x2 box, swappable between ships in about 5 minutes) Once the mags are set, things should drop in pretty quickly. Looks like weight might be an issue, balance with all the principle components was great, but I'll have to pay attention to it as I wrap up the build
Deck epoxy finished and internal armor Checking weight with note parts in control box from tromp with evil test switches, reliability is doomed! Need to print solenoid holder for under deck stern Aft solenoid with accumulator and check valve, just fits aft gun mounts Should be able to start putting things in for real soon. She’s 11 lbs so still looking tight, will wait on battery mount until rest is done to see if I need to downsize
Printed solenoid holder to align with bottom of T also made aft barrel holder Next steps will be co2 hoses and a couple wire leads, then ready to bench test I think
Took a few hours today to draw up the superstructure Got the secondaries printed an easy scale down from the main turrets planning to hold them with a through deck screw, easy to replace if damaged. Weight if tight so not planning to reenforce them for now should print up the rest tomorrow while working from home. Waiting on props from prop shop, need to test guns and paint
Sea trails today, boat did well Didn’t finish mounting superstructure Pond became a moss casualty Bow is a little high. Hopefully finish up the last few things this week
Yes, took me a bit to realize I could put draft markers on before putting it in the water Tested out guns, no issues, aim on sterns is very good Got SS attached Magnet hold down
kidding aside, I got a chance to look through your build details. Well Done sir! use of 3D for mounts and topside structures is excellent.
Thanks nate, I picked up a CRV several months ago so capacity has increased. Planning on 7 boats for nats, so I’ll probably have to go vertical with some of them. Might make a small platform to hold the convoys
