So I have this problem when I'll get a "hobby craze" and spend forever researching a hobby, and I'll lose interest. I'm still interested in Model Warship Combat, but I'm worried that I'll lose interest again. Any advice?

Get a friend involved. Do more hands-on activity (get hands on a hull).

Thanks, Nick. Always good to get a professional to help.

Buy a ship. No better way to remain committed than to actually invest some money into it. :)

Well hopefully you bring your parental units with. In fact, its probably going to be a requirement that you come bearing an adult.

No, my dad agrees to help and come with me to battles, but prob is, they don't think going to a stranger's house to meet people you met on a online forum is safe.

What about meeting in a public place, (like a park with a pond) first? Then they won't be strangers so much.

The best way is to get your parents to read the forum, come to a battle, or better a club meeting or build session. The latter is best as guys have much more time to devote to interacting with others than at a battle when they have limited time to patch, re arm, ect.

I agree with your and your parents concerns... however how is it possible to join a hobby you learned about on-line without meeting people and battling with people.. you met on-line. Most events are posted publicly so they are easy to research prior to attending, and of course you should attend with your parents. I think you will be fine with this group.

Another place to talk and meet people in the hobby is at RC swap meets and maker fairs. The RC swap meet is how I got into the hobby.
