Um, just wondering, Why replace Deans? I have been away for a few years and Deans were the cats ass, just wondering what happened. J
I find the XT connectors easier to solder wires to. Other then that, they are a lot cheaper then Dean's.
I got pretty good at soldering Dean's when I was using the cheap China knockoffs. I was replacing a connector 2 or 3 times a night back when I raced at the RC track. I usually ran 2 or 3 classes, and the knockoffs just couldn't hold up to the abuse. I'd have to solder them between the race I just ran, and going to marshal the race after. I was usually back out in another class after that race, so I had maybe 3 or 4 minutes between each race to solder new connectors, also hoping I had nothing else to fix, and rounding up and charging batteries, and doing systems checks on the cars. Was always the male ends that failed for me. Somewhere I should have a jig to hold a Dean's in the perfect place and also help with heat dissipation, too hot and the plastic will melt right out. I'm slowly converting everything to XTs though. They are a superior connector to Dean's. Easier handling since they are a bigger connector, since the contact points are shrouded. And they dont reply on a spring fit to hold them together. That was the main downfall with the much cheaper knockoffs males, the spring tab would usually nemd and bust off, just from unplugging the connector.
