In preparation for all the new boats that will be on the water for Task Force 2, I'm working feverishly to finish the rescue tug. Tonight I got the superstructure cut out, assembled and sealed.
I got the motor installed today, along with rudder servo. The motor is a 390 Kv brushless, originally intended to power a quad copter. With 6.6 volts and the 55mm 4 blade prop, it only draws 2 amps at full throttle. And that gives me a huge amount of thrust, so I'm very happy with the setup. Also in the picture, you can see the base of the king post crane and the winch. Those items will be hooked up at a later date.
Bring it! No, I really mean that. Bring it. You never know when I might need to be pushed in to shore. Way cool, by the way. Mikey
The tug made it to the pond today, and performed two rescues. To add embarrassment to the captain being rescued, I included flashing lights and a siren!
I don't have a video of any actual rescues. The local news was out and videoed me pushing Stephan to shore, but it didn't make the broadcast. Here's some sea trials... http://youtu.be/Xl2-rT1J0Ss
