To echo tugboat here, a big thank you for making the plans. Everything that I didn't screw up / change went together real smoothly. :D

Has anybody completed a build of an Orfey class destroyer (and remembered to take photos)? Today I realized I hadn't seen a completed ship, after giving away an unarmed one to a coworker's son, that was built in 1/72 scale.

I have not given up on Orfej, just got very busy changing jobs. the Othar Tryggvassen sits on it's own custom made shelf above my stbd-side workbench, awaiting a refit. The gun worked, fired its load of 10 BBs. The pump worked. Just need to get a separate power supply for the receiver so that the motor noise doesn't prevent testing everything at once. (yes the motors were capped) :)

Mine got back-burnered while I've been working on another ship, I'm still intending to finish it.

von Tug, did you try to fashion a Faraday cage around the motors? That could be lighter than a Rx battery. An aluminum foil dome? Copper mesh?

I think a "Faraday cage" would only work if all the wire and batteries and motors were in it.

Noise travels from all parts of the system not just the motors.

I'm a historian not an engineer. I was wondering if that would be the case.

Once the Allies say hello, you won't have any problem with noise, considering the pond water you're sinking in will nicely dampen the noise.

I have my 144 Clemson hull ready for plywood so Othar's continuing health is good.

@Keri - Othar Tryggvassen(Gentleman Adventurer) does not quail at the mere appearance of some milquetoast allied 'warships'. He relishes a challenge!

Then he should come to a Treat battle and meet the Montana!

Hah! I laugh in the face of danger! Anyone unsporting enough to pursue the Gentleman Adventurer with a Montana would doubtless lack the moral fortitude to face him in honourable combat! :) Perhaps the Monty would like to meet Mark's 1/96 Yamato for a fun fight.
Or, give me the MWC convoy rule 2-minute reload rule and I'll sink a Montana with my half-unit spurt gun.

Probably not, I personally think that Gentleman Adventurers are very hard to hit targets. I will be suitably impressed with a 1/96 Yam, but I would not want to have to lift it.
