    Hey all.

I am at the point where I need to finish off skinning the boat. I have applied the skin to the ship in several sections, but I am concerned about sealing them so I don't get leaks. This also applies to where I attached the skin to the bottom of the hull, bow, and stern. Should I add strips of silkspan? Would adding a bead of weld-wood to the seams work?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Thanks.

I was taught to do the outer silkspan after the balsa was applied, so that you can seal with it. If you've already done the outer silkspan before sheeting, then strips over the seams would probably work.

After sheeting with balsa, use wood filler in the seams between sheets and along the bottom border with the hull. Scrape excess filler off. After drying, sand smooth and apply silkspan with watered-down wood glue. Seal with dope.
