Hi and welcome to the hobby. You have been asking on a variety of ships, do you have a specific ship in mind? I could not tell from your profile page where you are located, if we know which state we might be able to steer you towards local captains that would help get you onto the water (they also might have ships not listed here that they might be willing to sell).

Dude, if you can, come to a Port Polar Bear battle in Chanhassen MN sometime. I showed up, and within like ten minutes I got a lead on the ship that will be my backup boat. Sure enough, one of the guys at PPB just LOVES building wooden boats, and he had a habit for a while of building one every year or something. I managed to buy his first boat off of him a few weeks back, and though it'll be a bit of work to get the ten-year-old hull back to trim, the craftsmanship was astoundingly good.
@Bob is trying to put together a two day battle in the next month or two, and Jason (the guy that LOVES to build boats) should be there, and might have a hull or two laying around in his workshop that he'd be willing to sell.

Are you able to pick up in California?
If not I may ship to S. Carolina if not sold locally.
