RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Man Nice Targets I ah mean ships love the paint scheme and rigging Curt Dam my trigger finger is itching must be allergies Nice stuff guys
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Thankyou. This is a fast gun ship at 24 seconds. Note no rooster tail or extreme bow wave. The water flow around the hull is close to scale if the Bismarck was running at top speed. There is a photo of Bismarck running high speed trials and you can see how close the comparison is. This btw is a old Swampworks ship kit I purchased back in 1992 and I built it in 93. It was sold in 2002 I think or 2003. I bought it back in 2008.It's current status is an internal refit and DECK refit and light cosmetic refit on the hull exterior. The model weighs in at over 40+ lbs. The bow though not accurate(too thick at the stem and bulbous still cuts through the water clean. There is very little drag around the hull. I find for such a large ship it is the kindest to light helm commands and a great boat in calm or rough water. The hull is not thick and not perfect to scale but the kit has always been advertised as semi-scale soley built for the purpose of RC combat.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Yep I need to move closer to my monitor, that's definite! Curt do you have any shots of the driveline? I am working on mine and trying to decide what to do. I have the 970 running the center. Mounting servo's next.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! See, its all that caffine Rob, if you go to decaf, your eyesight will get better.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Now I know got issues with my PC. I was trying to post an interior shot of the drive setup in Bismarck. When I went to add reply and tried to get my browser to show my files nothing happened. There is nothing in my browser. It took forever just to get the page to show my folders which there are none now. I think it's time to get new computer.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Could always get a new harddrive, install an operating system and install your old one as a slave with all your files still there.... Or get a new pc.... Thanks for trying, I went to take shots of my drivetrain and couldn't find a good battery in the house. Not a good day for photos???
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Excellent man, excellent. Most times the wire deflects the bb. The odd time that it is hit the rigging mainly stays semi-detached and easy to repair with a drop of ca in seconds. You can keep using the same rigging over and over. The rigging also adds structural strength to what ever it is attached to ie Masts and cranes. I find you can use various thickness of rigging in areas that will come under fire more and thinner for the higher or less exposed areas. The rigging requires minimal maintenance as it can't fuzz up or weaken from age. Thin riggin can be looped at the end around yardarms or other solid attachements. The rigging is easy and quick to attach. You can also paint it black, grey, silver or pink if you really wanted to be seen lol. The rigging I use is various grades of piano wire. Makes nice music when the wind howls through it.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! How do you bend the wire into the sharp angles? I found the music wire to be difficult to work with but I have never been shown how to work with it. I used nylon thread used to tie the eyelets on fishing rods. I just wrapped and added ca. It was $3 for 100yds and took a short time to do this much. I was going to add a picture but the add picture dialog box doesnt display correctly anymore.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! That's easy. I just use pliers or bend them against an edge or if I need to curve it I bend them around a brass tube or other item small or large. I find the wire secures flags quite well too.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! That is one of the most beutiful ships I have ever seen. Churchill has surely rolled in his grave
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! I find running Bismarck with the dazzle paint scheme sure attracts attention and makes it easier to see at long operating ranges. I generally cruise 3/4 of max range on the Tx.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Hey Curt do you still have the pics of my Tirpitz? If you do could you post some please.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Here's some pictures from yesterday doing some speed test. Mine has the camo scheme, and the other Bis is another Carolina battler Rich Spencers.
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Very nice. I have to start the finish up of mine now. I have turned to the dark side and am ready to prepare my axis ship.....
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Do you think your going to have it ready by the next Hagerstown battle? Post some pics when you get a chance, your Alabama build thread was real nice. So lets get an update on your Biz build when you make progress. =)
RE: Show us your Bismarck/tirpitz! Axis is not necessarily the dark side. Just say we are a bit shady
