Most ships ( for some reason ) that dont have a picture on the BC sight dont have the skills required to build it. So what wouldyou the battling difficulty and building difficulty would be or a North Carolina?

I advise you to buy either a Lion class battlecruiser or that Nagato hull thats for sale on the MWCI website. A battlecruiser is fast, has enough guns to be entertaining, and plenty of room for equipment. They are also some cheaper than outfitting an NC. If money is no problem... I'd say it's pretty easy to build an NC because it's got lots of room and weight allowance.

Well, then, find an American ship. A full-blown battleship is like unto $700-$1000 to put on the water.

iowa,nc,tn,sd,pa... ? Is this what you are asking? OR do you mean what is involved in a "full blown battleship model"

I think what tuggy is saying is a battleship will have more systems, weapons, CO2, require more power (more/larger battery), and just generally be more expensive. :)

Lets start by asking you this:

    • What is your budget?
    • Your bio says you are 12, is your father willing to help you?
    • Do you realize it will take you a year before the ship is ready to fight?

    > Under 1,000

    > Yes!

    > why? My birth day is dec. 6 if you mean that i have to be 13 ;)

It's not that you have to be 13 to build and operate a combat ship (but you might, better check the rules). It simply takes a long time to build a ship. Each individual step only takes a small amount of time, but there's a lot of steps and it takes longer to do if you don't know how to do it yet.

The reason Justin asked if your father is willing to help is that many of the steps involved in constructing a combat model warship requires using potentially dangerous tools, or has potentially dangerous byproducts such as fumes or fiberglass dust. Some of the tools I've used are fully capable of ripping my arm off or smashing the part I'm working on (sometimes the whole boat) halfway into my chest cavity. Having your dad help means that he can make sure you're using proper safety procedure and help out if anything does go wrong.

Also, could you please narrow down your possible budget to something more precise than >$1000?

That sounds like you don't know... Do you have $950? Is this Christmas money? We don't understand what your requirements are, and without solid info then we can't help you. If this is Christmas money (which is OK); then there is a totally different approach than if you have $950 sitting in your pocket.

Assuming the ship's parts are "christmas presents"... Then you have a unrestricted choice, but the least expensive ship means the more likely you will recieve one. So the problem remains... What is the cheapest ship that you like and will continue to like.

Think about how you want to fight. DO you want to fight battleships in a slug fest or use hit and run tactics? Perhaps you just want to be a cargo ship (definately the cheapest) or an armed pirate cargo ship.

Also think about if you want to build a ship at all. IF you don't really like / want to build... then you need to buy a used ship. If you get all the parts to build your ship in December, it very well could be next december before you can fight with it. If you buy a used ship, it could be ready to fight by the time you have finished Christmas dinner.

Also think about how heavy a battleship is... You are 12, when I was 12 there was no way I could lift a 50 pound Iowa. I probably weighed 50lbs myself!

So from what I gathered, you want USA ship... the lighter the ship, the better. the less construction the better... the cheaper the better.

I think there is really only one choice. The Des Moines class Heavy Cruiser. From B/C it seems to ring out about $800 dollars. Its fast and small (15lbs) shouldn't be too tough to lift. Its also fairly wide & long, so it shouldn't be TOO tough to build.

If I was 12, this is the ship I would probably want. It is fast & manuverable enough to be fun; but heavy enough to stand up for itself.

A NC would be poor choise for a 1st boat.
The amount of work involved in putting a class 6 boat together is rather large. Figure a year with expert advice- and I mean a year were every weekend you worked on the boat, forget sports and other stuff.
You would be must beter off with a smaller vessel that could be finished with less time and money.

Von der Tann is probibly BC's best rookie ship. It large enough to fit the stuff pretty easy, and manuverable enough that rookie captains mistakes won't mean instant sinks. Also it has minimal supperstructure.

If your set on a US ship the Des Monies might be ok- it is fast. The tripples however would be challanging for most rookies to deal with. You could just set it up with 2 cannon. Another down side with Des Monies is that it has a ton of supper sturcture to build.

well in fighting, a little of a slug fest and a little bit of a hit and run. I founf that the NC has a Triple stern for the hit and run and two single shot side mounts for a ''slug fest''.

Also, My limit would be just ebough to buy the ship, some plans. and the turrets.

I'd go with the Des Moines before the NC for a first ship.

I think you'd be best served by a Des Moines if you prefer American ships. North Carolinas aren't good for rookies to start with. You'll get yourself in trouble, get pounded then have to lift a 35 pound battleship that's full of water and sunk. The cruiser will be your friend.
