Thats cuz there's only one Allied With enough guts to actually pick a fight with the Axis superpowers.

And yes Craig, I am 3/4 Canadian, but i agree, the German battleships are better looking.

I'm not entirely sure how I'm supposed to take on the entire Kriegsmarine in a smack thread. On the pond, I've no doubt it's pretty easy, but here, I wish I had some support, even if it's from some silly American captains.

Well, I suppose I'll hold the fort until then. Easy enough to do against kraut krap. To the bottom with ye all!

Bayruun, you know, it wont be easy to beat half of a German Warship with your sinking, rolling turd of a British ship.
Yes, please, anyone, please dispute the dominance of German warships, so that we may disprove you, and as to help out your sinking friend, who so far, has nothing but below the waterline hits, and many of them.

Boomer has a valid point. It's hard to beat a German warship when said German warship is afraid to leave it's fjord...

The Allies are willing to share the pond. Axis gets the bottom. As for the Allied walks of shame, very true. The Allies should be ashamed of the beating up on the Axis. It's like beating up on a handicapped kid. Sure its easy, but not something you can really brag about.

Fighting the Axis is like taking a machine gun to a water pistol fight.

no, too bad the axis didnt get that notice and brought a flamethrower....opps.
At least there is now real opposition, although the Courageous wasnt much of a fight for anyone, let alone a German destroyer.

As an act of defiance, not stupidity, as with the french.

The act of stupidity was getting into a naval arms race with the greatest maritime power in the world.

Also, the Courageous was sunk via submarine, while her sister the Glorious died in battle with two battleships. At least Glorious engaged an enemy warship. Can Tirpitz say the same thing?

No, that was an act of defiance, although its hard to defend your point when the leader of that country was a maniac, and is now synonymous with evil.
Let me guess, it was german submarines, and oh yea, it wasnt a battle, it was a slaughter by 2 battleships, one of the few examples of a battleship beating an aircraft carrier, by who? oh yea, the germans.

The same two modern German ships that ran away from a SINGLE WW1 era battle cruiser with their tails between their legs. I guess the Germans were good at beating up on ships that couldn't shoot back ;)

Kaiser Wilhelm is synonomous with evil? A tad eccentric I'll give you, but I dare say he seemed to be a nice enough sort.

You know what it took to sink one of those modern ships? 13 14" hits and 15 torpedo hits.
Now, that battlecruiser only took 1 bomb and 5 torpedo hits.
I think that the winner is clear, and if weater had permitted durinf that inconclusive skirmish in the north sea, it would have been even clearer.

Hm, I remember cases of the Axis running away from the British on many occassions. The Spee ran away from some cruisers, the Tirpitz ran away from everyone, the Italians ran rather well, in their speedy ships. The British, on the other hand, usually sought out the enemy in their usually chivalrous and unflappable way. "What's that, a kraut battleship? Let's go that way!"

Also, the German fleet was composed largely of uboats, ships of the most cowardly sort. Noble and daring the Germans were not, particularly compared to the British.

It may have taken 13 gun hits and 15 torpedoes to sink them but it only took a White Ensign to make them run!

    Rule Britainnia!

Great choice on the Salem there. Beautiful ship, still around today. I don't see any German ships still around from WW2, other than a few U-boats. What, did *all* of them sink?

While it is true that the Kreigsmarine tried to avoid engaging Allied ships, they were following the orders of a madman. Their orders were to avoid warships and attack merchants. Do you know what the penalty for disobeying an order of Hitlers was? BAD, that's what it was. If the British were so superior, why didn't they simply dispatch one ship to deal with Bismarck, as opposed to all of them? Admiral Günther Lütjens ordered a withdraw from Hood and POW, it was Captain Lindemann who declared he will not have his ship blown out from under him. He then proceeded to kick the crap out of the TWO British battleships that were attacking (though unsuccessfully) him. The Battlecruiser Scharnhorst is another example, the British had 1 BB, 1 CA, 3 CL and 9 DD. While Scharnhorst was sunk, he damaged the BB, the CA, a CL and a DD before he went down. Not only did it take hundreds of shells, it took 19 torpedos to finally sink him. What made the Brits successful was the fact that they would gang attack. Ship to ship, the Germans made better ships, plane to plane, tank to tank, same thing. We are all just lucky that Hitler was a madman and didn't listen to his senior military leaders. Now back to the spirit of this thread,
AXIS rule and ALLIES drool!!!! :D:laugh::D
