I ran my Moltke like your second layout. The stern gun was somewhat useful, not great not terrible. I would not have enjoyed a bow gun at all being 26 seconds, but I use mine on the Nagato differently than Jeff or Johnny.

Yeah. Pretty much the same arrangement as I use in the Derfflinger, just designed ahead of time instead of made up as I went, and slightly different gears.

Yes. Decided if I start designing and printing parts it'll get done faster.

Great thing about 3d printing is it's like have a extra skilled worker helping you. You tell him what you need built while you go work on something else. :)

Problem with it is that skilled worker is also a moron who does exactly what you tell it, and nothing more, and sometimes less.

its not done till it has all the bits for people to shoot, so what does it matter if I make them first or last? :D

Its a valid approach once you have a working ship. Its not if you dont.

As a recipient of the "Clark Ward award for excellence in superstructure design", I believe all those bits above the deck are unnecessary until the ship can get under way with working cannons.*

*Especially if a cereal box and some toilet paper rolls are available.
