I've ordered a SMS Scharnhorst and I'm really excited to start work on her. However, how would people set this ship up to battle? (fast gun of course) I mostly got the boat as a fun build and because I don't think there are very many out there battling. Have I gotten myself into a sticky situation?

I have looked at her also, only 2.5 units with 2 turrets. But a 26 speed. But only 1 rudder, so I would guess 2 stern guns is what everyone will tell you. After I battle my PE with the bow guns, I will let you know how she does, because with that flat bow, I think it may work well with the bow guns also, but alot of people seem to be against them.

When I water tested the PE, Don and Rick observed, and she can turn in her own length at full speed with no speed drop off, even Don said he was impressed, since my plan on fighting her is to make the battle into a turning battle, out turn the target at speed, and come around till the bow guns are on target and then blast away.

Of course we will have to see how she does at the next battle, I just don't care for the sterns on a slower ship after watching the slow boats at Nats, and the local battle when Tim K, was depressed looking, when he said no one would come play with his SC. He of course has stern guns.

Nats 2009 we need to have a 2.5 or less units, speed 26 and slower battle on wednesday :) A lot of people seem to be doing these lately and it'd be fun!

At the last Savannah battle, Tim K got into the furball with no problems. Unfortunately the crew of Invincible was ashore doing damage control at that point ;)

Every boat has its good points and bad points

The little armored cruisers are easy to transport, and pretty well protected against stern guns.
Cruisers can't really do much against them.

They are vunerable to manuverable battleship sidemounts. QEs can pretty much kill them at will; stay away from QEs.

The slow speed limits them when attacking faster ships. But they work good against convoys.

If you go the all bow gun route, you invite battleships to chase you around, as you can't shoot back.

They will not out turn QE, but will slow less in a shallow turn, so you can stay away from them if you are carefull.
