So I don't think there are any RC Warship Combat clubs in the Long Island area, so I thought about getting my school to start one. Problem is, we don't have the budget for battlewagons or even fully armed cruisers, so I was thinking about a budget ship, prob under 150 with two cannons. Any suggestions?
If there are clubs please tell me.

There are a bunch of members in the NY area, though outside the city up north a bit. Cruise over to IRCWCC.com there should be a contacts page or look for the yahoo group.

The IRCWCC has a member on Long Island, Barry, here is his 'profile page' on here,

    https://www.rcwarshipcombat.com/members/bgt0990.1783/

You should be able to send him a direct message ('start a conversation'). If that doesn't work I can send you his email offline.

What's your background as far as hobbies/building things? The IRCWCC is your best bet as far as making it to a battle. I would recommend starting with a cruiser. As some mentioned your budget would have to be adjusted upwards by a factor of 2 or 3 to get on the water

One of the IRCWCC members just posted a few hulls for sale that are listed here.
    http://www.southeastattacksquadron.org/forsale.shtml

The prices for the cruiser hulls listed are very good

I love building things. My first model kit was a Revell USS Constitution purchased when I was six. After that, my father really stressed my hands on abilities, so I'm okay with building a ship from scratch.

How do I start a conversation? I can't see the option. Also, I looked on IRCWCC but there aren't any located in the NY area. Do any of you know their names?

It's probably best for you (and a parent) to contact Barry and hopefully meet up with him to learn more about the hobby. I also recommend that you keep all of your questions in one thread (instead of five or six), it will help keep everything straight

Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated! Vincent just sent me a conversation and I am starting to catch up with stuff. Hi everyone!

Is that a cannon in your hold or are you just glad to see me?
