Well it was a nice sunny day here in Dartmouth. The second sea trials at the grove were run. It was much better than the first run. Some issues that need to be addressed are:
Weight. I loaded everything on it and weighed it andit was only 27 pounds
Receiver. I will need to get a spot in the boat for it as it does not fit near the bottle.
Engines: One gear came loose and needs to be tightened up.
Rudders. One rudder went in reverse so I will have to mount a post so that rudder does no go past a certain point. Otherwise the rance with the radio is fine and it handled well I thought. Once repairs are made then I will hopefully have another run on tuesday of next week. Overall impression is that she is much closer to being called complete. Once I have reached that stage i can then start work on Dreadnought.

Reminds me of the GOOD OLE DAYS.. The rudder overturning, a gear slipping, not enough ballast... yup fond memories. A good trial Paul. That's what their all about.. looking for things that wil go wrong and correcting them later. I used a checklist to record what problems I had and then came up with various solutions. I went back to the pond with my list of issues from a previous run and checked them off when they didn't occur on the following run. It's a good way to keep track of your adjustments and repairs.

It was a good trial. Some of the issues can be easily be resolved. The weight will be trial by error. I think I might use some pennies in a tool dipped baloon to make the weight.

Was the ship too light or did it just need to be trimmed?
If it is weight use a bathroom scale to get an approximate weight. On the water then it would only be a matter of shifting the weight a little to get the trim correct.

The boat was light by 5 pounds. It tipped the scaled at 28 pounds

Just to give everyone an update to the Sodak. This winter will see it completely rebuilt once again. I won't start reconstruction until I get a new gun git from battlers connection. I also have a crack in the deck that needs to be addressed. I am considering getting a new piece of Sintra and re-doing the deck.

Hey Paul how big is the crack? If it is not big you could just fill it with resin.

The crack is a cross piece between hatches. actually it is more like broken. So I am not sure what to do for that piece.
