RE: Bismarck for Sale Good luck finding the boat.
A friend of mine went out without a float one time and his boat was sunk by a turtle (we think). Something pulled the sheeting off between two ribs from the main deck down to the water-line.
We had to get a small boat and drag the pond , which was over 12 feet deep, with a device that we made up, that had several triple-sdied hooks on it. Eventually we snagged the floatplane, and it came to the surface, and we retrieved the boat.

RE: Bismarck for Sale The $120 canera at Harbor freight works well. Thats what we used to find our missing HC, even after a diver could not find it.

Would love to try that or the "fish Cameras" but the water is just so full of silt it is hard
to see even hour hand if it is more than one foot infront of you and the pond is 14
feet deep so controlling the camera may be hard, but it is a option I guess.

Thanks for everyone's good wishes and good ideas, might be a good idea for a thread,
Recovery ideas or how to avoid need ing them.o_O

RE: Bismarck for Sale It's too bad Greg there was no Yamato superstructure of that material you made for Tirpitz or a Missouri superstructure.

RE: Bismarck for Sale OMG! I hope you do find it. Shoud be able to find it though. I seen much smaller ships been recovered from similar depths. Can you get any idea from the shore where it initially sank? IF so you may have to keep in mind if the model planed away from the sink point It could go another 20 or 30 ft from the sink point on the surface in any direction. Should be able to recover it though I have faith in that. Bismarck is one that will not stay down for long. Hopefuly the deck and Superstructure are still on the model but if not due to the weight of the superstructure it should be near the hull. Odds are the hull is upright on the bottom.

RE: Bismarck for Sale If there is interest, charlie has a mold for fiberglass superstructure, it would be easy for him to mold it out of the foam in the same molds

RE: Bismarck for Sale The harbor freight camera uses infered lights, even in our Florida pond which was totally stiredup, I was able to see it from about a foot away. I used the camera, and Rick steered the john boat around. A diver had no luck after 2 hours, and the camera found it in less than 10 minutes.

Has a small screen, camera with 60 ft of cord, and battery and charger. You just watch the screen, and keep the camera right above the bottom.

I will keep the camera in mind, thanks, I am going to see if the rescue
divers can find it first then I may go the camera route, thanks and failing
that it is maybe a excuse to get a portable side scan sonar, good for
    fishing I hear too!

I will keep everyone posted, Say a little something for the divers
on Thursday night after work, I cannot be there but my wife and
sons will be there, so there will be a captain that saw her go down there.

    Thanks again.

PS for those interested, the superstructure floated off along with the main deck
and came to shore, the decks at the guns are still on I Hope and the turrets may
have come off but there is a camera mounted on top of C turret so I know /hope
it is still there (it is held on with strapping around the hull.)

    Good News all!

    HE IS FOUND!:)

If you want to see what it looks like sinking from the perspective
of C Turret use this link::eek:

    http://ontarioattackforce.multiply.com/video/item/4

I have more footage, of her launching, of her battling and such
also over a hour of her sitting in the dark at the bottom with
her motor still running, in 14' of water, that part is creepy...

Thanks for all the warm wishes and the good ideas
the OAF SAR team found her after 20 minutes in water
that had no visability and even lights did not work in.
Did I mention the water was REALLY COLD too!
    Thanks Mark!

A Go-Pro Hero, that is ment for RC car racing, but comes in a
Waterproof housing that makes it waterproof to 200' and both the camera
and housing separated fit in the palm of my hand, it runs on a SD card
and 2 AAA battaries and will film good video for about 2 hours.

I will try and get you a photo:
