RE: 1st rate plans yes, I have several plans for various ships-of-the-line, ranging from 64 guns up to 120+, and many of the standard sizes in between. Anything in particular you're looking for? Number of guns, etc?
RE: 1st rate plans I have the Dvenadtsat Apostolov (12 Apostles) Russian and the equally huge Santissima Trinidad.
RE: 1st rate plans Looking primarily for a 2+ gundeck ship so there is some room for equipment inside. The Constitution would be a very good fit but I can not find a good set of drawings for her that I can enlarge at Kinkos.
RE: 1st rate plans Hercule and Santissima Trinidad are triple-deckers. Not familiar enough with the others to say definitively, but I can say that no 1st-rate ship ever under sail was less than 2 gun decks. I also looked at the 3rd-rate Bellona: 2 gun decks, 74 guns. (Anatomy of the Ship book very helpful).
RE: 1st rate plans The site where I got the plans for the Ingermanland has plans for the Commerce de Marseilles, a French 1st-rate: http://www.sailboatmodel.info/index_en.php
RE: 1st rate plans This site has lot of ship plans including the Constitution. http://shipmodeling.uw.hu/ If you put that link into Google Translate, it will translate it right into English, which does make it a little easier to read. Unless you know Russian, that is. Beaver
RE: 1st rate plans Thanx Beaver... not sure who I will get the plans from yet. But I know what ship now... I was going to do a Trinidad but I think till I get the ship systems figured out I will go a little smaller. I wish we where in 1:24 scale! The heeling would not be so bad at that size as well as more room inside for more cannons.. Looks like another Constitution will have her kell laid down very soon. I knew I should not have looked into the forum catagory...
You mean a 100-150lb sailing model is too big? ;-) I did the conversions on those big ships. Talk about a back breaker.
http://threedecks.org/index.php?display_type=home Looking around found this site that has lots of info. Don't know if it will help.
