I have been sitting on this for a while and thought I would shart this as a alternitive to stuffing tubes, I call it a grease lock for propeller shafts. It is made with a short pice of brass pipe with turned down plugs to be solid end caps with a space on the ends for O-rings. The internal space is filled with gereace, I have found that bacon or beef greace is a good substitute for marine greace and it would just be a wast product from the kitchen. the caps are brazed on and the shaft needs to be threded and a washer tac welded to be able to have lite pressure to seal.

This seems like a lot of extra work when Loctite 680 and oilite bushings make for a 30 second stuffing tube/shaft assembly.

    Craftsmanship is great otherwise.

The end caps wear made with a set of files and a drill, I wish I had a mini Lathe it would had made the process so much easier...
