So gears have been ordered, and the build yard has moved indoors. (getting too cold outside, freezing my glue:) )The cut is almost healed so as soon as my gears arrive I'm going to dive in and get Suffren done. :)

Believe it or not, I searched for days for a pinion for less common shaft size and finally found what I wanted on ebay of all places. I had to buy an assortment, but it think I paid $10 for a bag of 5.

Strange question...... motors aren't terribly expensive..... wouldn't it be better all around just to get the correct one? Might be the easiest and cheapest in the long run.

I got a big bag of 3mm shaft collars for $12-15 from a company I found on Ebay that makes scientific pieces-parts. Had to buy a bunch, but they'll get used making pump impellers :)

I know what you mean about finding stuff like that, I owe one to Absolutek. :)
I've already bought the gears, so no sense in buying new motors unless they don't work. :)

I don't think its so much that its the wrong engine, as he needs to get the correct gears for it, which are somewhat unusual. Once he has those, he should be fine IMHO.

When I ordered these motors, I had know idea how they were classified in power. Therefore I asked what would be a good size motor for Suffren, someone* recommended something in the 2400kv area. When I ended up not finding a 2400kv motor, I got a 2500kv. Probably both of them would have been too big for the gears that BC offers, but anyway, at least I don't have to buy more. :) Now I know how the KV thing works, so I hope I don't make the same mistake twice.

So I ordered gears two weeks ago and haven't heard anything back from Trinity except for an email saying that they received my order and it would be processed once the payment was confirmed. I tried sending them an email asking when I could expect my order to be shipped, but I haven't heard anything back. Has anybody else on here dealt with these people recently? I've read on another site that their customer service has declined in the last ten years.

I called Trinity today, and they realized that my order had not been shipped. Seems that the guy that did the orders doesn't work there anymore. On the bright side, the gears will be shipped today, so they should be here sometime this week, I hope. :)

Yes, I'm very exited about finally getting to work on Suffren again. :) According to UPS, they should arrive on Thursday, but we all know how accurate the postal service is. :)

Atleast you wont have to wait for it to clear customs purgatory. That being said, I hate UPS (they always show up that 5 minutes of the day I'm not home.

I do believe that UPS has a system that they can deliver packages to your home when you're not there. Might not be true, but could be something to look into.... :)
Last time I checked, the gears were somewhere between Jacksonville, FL and my place. Can't wait for them to get here. :)

That is precisely the problem, I don't want them to come when I am not home. I don't want my packages left at the door either, atleast with postal service, I can go pick it up at the post office if they miss me. UPS just returns it after three tries.

I hate UPS for an entirely different reason....
$83.00 postage for ONE mpa-7 from the US......bloody piracy!

UPS has the most expensive brokerage rates.

I generally like the USPS for in the States, cheap and usually fast. Tomorrow is the scheduled arrival date, so we'll see if the package shows up. :)

Gears arrived today. :) Everything fits on the shaft and motor very well. Other than the slow customer service from Trinity, I'm very happy with the transaction. So now I'm ready to start hooking up everything, and am wondering something. My motor has three wires coming out of it. I know one is for the positive charge, and on for the negative, but what is the third wire for, and is it necessary?

You need all three on brushless. They are not positive/negative like on a brushed motors.
