Three to be exact. ;) Got the epoxy the U on today. That should be well cured by tomorrow. Now that I have the bent keel fixed, I'm wondering what to do next. Should I glue the shaft down first, or the motor mount? From what I've seen in other build threads, the shaft should be secured first, right?

So I've noticed! :) How would you recommend securing it?

I get it aligned and then use blue painters tape to hold it in place while the epoxy dries.

OK, that's what I was thinking. Going to try and get it epoxied on today.

So today I stumbled out to the barn to install the stuffing tube and take some well needed photos of Suffren. Everything went well, nothing broke or gave me any trouble. ( really rare) :)
    On with the photos....
I added a little fiberglass cloth to help hold the tube in.

Taped the stern so nothing would move.

    Epoxy is in!

Extra epoxy went into the water channeling to help waterproof it.

Here is the fix. Nothing pretty, but who says it has to be....

    So there you go.:)

Beaver, how wide is your water channel? The pump is like 55mm in diameter.

The channel is 1" on the inside. Might need to do some mods to get it to fit.

It is now....:) It's really not as angled as the photo shows it to be. I'll take a photo today, but I'd say it's only a degree or two off center.

When I first drilled the hole, I drilled it as level as possible. This is where I ended up.

Here is the photo. I don't think the angle is too bad.

Ok, for the motor mount, should it be attached permanently, or maybe screwed to the hull?

I like to screw them to the hull, altho if permanently mounted and it needs changed, you can always cut it out in a refit later :)

Either way should work, now I just have to decide which will work best. Any pros or cons to either way?

Nope, not as bad as it looked in the tape photo, angle is pretty reasonable.

I like screwed to the hull as well.

Here is a suggestion forya about secureing that motor mount

    1) Take some small diameter threaded rod ( a small bolt with the head cut off works aswell), drill holes in a rib, and epoxy the rod in the hole. Then you'll have threaded studs to bolt your motor mount to with nuts.

    2) Instead, use a Threaded insert, or a nut and epoxy it to the floor, then you can Bolt down the motor mount.
Im doing a similar thing securing my pump, ill have pictures up soonish.

    Looking good!
